All members of Mu Alpha Theta are well versed mathematics who are capable of providing assistance on any subject.
We believe that even the slightest help on a homework assignment or problem can make the greatest impact. Thus, we strive constantly to find ways where we can help students within our community.
Mathematics is a field that comes with endless opportunities and possibilities. From artificial intelligence to stocks, we hope that every student will see mathematics as a positive tool for success.
The formula for exemplary performance in mathematics starts at the middle school level, where students are expected to consolidate their knowledge of the fundamentals. As students who have strong mathematical foundations, we wish to relay our experiences and expertise onto students of the next generation by helping out at West Frederick Middle School's Homework and MATHCOUNTS clubs.
We get it: not every student has the opportunity to stay after school or go during their extra block to ask for help. In fact, many of our club members know the struggle, too: we also have to balance a life filled with rigorous courses, varsity sports, and part-time jobs. Thus, we are looking forward to creating more opportunities by offering tutoring sessions outside of school on the weekends, supervised by other mathematics teachers and run completely by students.
One of the things I've found that some students struggle with is finding other students to tutor. Many students have a lot of friends who simply don't need tutoring in mathematics at all. However, considering not everyone is flowing in success, there must still be students that need help but are too afraid to ask for it. With all that being said, our club is aiming to create an online platform where students can reach out for help to our very own members while allowing tutors to fulfill their service hours.
